Risque shoot

You've might have seen these already, but having only made one post on this blog before (!!!), I couldn't deny the opportunity to post again - I was given the chance to make something for Risque magazine's second issue, a shoot of Jack as Lana Del Rey and my first completed graphic since "Meow" way back in November. That's an absurd length of time to go between graphics, but I digress - it was just really nice to work on something again, to have something featured in a a magazine again, and that's even without the fact the issue was released at TTT Fashion Week! Anyway, without further ado...

    1. Ah that's so kind of you, it was hard to do you justice but I guess the other Lana helped with that :D Especially when you're kind of the one to watch with graphics these days, haha. I'm really glad you like them~

  5. Everything about this makes me feel so relaxed. It's all so dreamy and realistic. Almost exactly like Lana's photoshoot. The way you shade creates sort of an atmoshpere, a vibrant virtuality that is scarily close to reality. This is true artwork!

  6. It was an absolutely fantastic shoot. I love love loved the skirt and bandeau set and how you can tell which direction the sun comes from. It kinda looks like a real photoshoot, what with how the sun moves from one direction outside to another. I, personally, have a problem with directing shadows in graphics, so I thought that was pretty awesome. You don't need my input to know the skin shading is AH-mazing.

The only thing I can think to fix/alter is the facial shading and the size of the head in the third image. Everything else is just beautiful!:)

    1. Ah, I'm glad someone noticed that~ :D Thanks so much, I always feel like I'm terrible at shadows!

Yeah I agree, the facial shading didn't exactly turn out the way I'd hoped. Oh well.

  7. I love everything except for the eyebrows in the graphics with the white bandeau and skirt, they look really scary not being there :(

    1. Thanks, I know what you mean - that's just the way Jack's face was when I made those two graphics, which is why the middle graphic does have eyebrows. The no-eyebrow thing always freaks me out, Stardoll or otherwise!

  8. Omg I already commented but everytime I see this I fall in love with your technique over and over, it's just so close to reality it's scary in a good way, I can only imagine how hard you work on this and it's mind blowing the way you understand light and shadow in a way not even some of he best graphic designers do! Honestly you're an inspiration

  9. The middle graphic is by far your best out of this grouping. I really love every aspect of the graphics expect the head portions. I hope to see more from you you've been kind of mia.

    Critique~
The heads are awkwardly placed on the other two or? I can't exactly tell what happened. Maybe it's the models face because of lacking consistency throughout the graphic editorials. Another thing that threw them off was the face shading. Everything is organic and then when you get to the face you have shark cheekbones and nose shading that completely connects to the oval eyebrows.

  10. I think these graphics are great. It would be great to see a lot of you do something with your skills other than with Stardoll though if that's something you want to do. There is a lot of money and fun in the art world and you're getting a great start online. It's nice that you used Jack's online persona with Lana's poses since he likes her a lot.
